Hellas’ patented Cushdrain® 19mm elastic layer.
Pads for Synthetic Turf
Shock pads, including elastic layers and geogrid pads, are installed on top of laser-graded drainstone to improve the field’s drainage and shock absorption (G-max). Below you can find more information about our different shock pad options.
Our Cushdrain® pad is an elastic layer that is paved into place over the
laser-graded drainstone foundation of an artificial turf system which increases
shock absorption. Cushdrain is made at Hellas Polymers and uses only non-toxic
components and no heavy metals. It is a two-in-one system that is made of mega
rubber and moisture-cured polyurethane binder that is cured 48 hours before installing
the synthetic turf. Hellas allows only factory trained technicians skilled in the turf
installation process to execute the placement of the Cushdrain system. It is also
resistant to rot, mildew, water, freeze-thaw, and compression set associated with
normal athletic field use.
The benefits of installing this product are numerous.
Not only does it improve the drainage of the field which reduces downtimes
caused by heavy rains, but it also provides planarity that holds its form
and position through 3-4 lifecycles of the turf. This also increases the
longevity of the turf by absorbing stress and diffusing the point of impact.
When it is time for a turf replacement, the process takes minimal time and is
more cost effective since there is no need to re-grade the base for evenness.
Last and most importantly, Cushdrain adds safety for athletes of all sports by
increasing shock absorption and reducing concussions.
